Prior to graduating with a degree in fine arts from Cleveland State University, David Bloomquist and an associate purchased a circa 1886, 24 unit apartment building in the Upper Prospect neighborhood of Cleveland and began a 10 year campaign of restoration.  They transformed a mostly vacant, dilapidated structure on the brink of being condemned into a fully restored Victorian jewel with original details which became registered as a historic landmark.

During that same period, David applied his vision of civic planning by working with the City of Cleveland to designate the surrounding area a registered landmark district while heading a neighborhood organization actively engaged in economic revitalization.  After completion of these projects, he relocated to New York City to continue his studies in fine residential renewal and work with top designers at City University, FIT campus.

In 1997, David and his wife Janet relocated to Savannah, Georgia to enjoy its rich legacy of historic properties and strong business prospects.  They established Bloomquist Construction in 2000, initially working on a single project at a time.  Since then, David and Janet have grown their company to four specialized crews, each headed by experienced, skilled lead carpenters who have been extensively trained in addressing the unique challenges of renovation, custom construction, and customer satisfaction.

Along with his dedicated staff, David still maintains control of all his projects, insuring design intent, the most cost effective and non-invasive solutions to any unforseen contingencies, and the adherence to aligning his high standards with those of the architects and their clients.  Bloomquist Construction specializes in utilizing old world craftsmanship with modern solutions to maintain the beauty and integrity of historic structures while adapting them to the needs of the 21st century.
